So I wanted to, while I had a bit of down time, write up a little response and cover some of the questions, comments, and concerns we had during this, for lack of a better word, mishap. We hope this will clear up some confusion and settle anyone who was upset over the event and how things went down.
Dreamhack is 180,000 SEK tournament composed of 8 groups of 6 players (48 Players). The top two players from each group will advance to the final 16 person grid. Every single game is a Bo3, with the exclusion of the Grand Finals which is a Bo5.
Every day at Dreamhack, there is a BYOC Tournament. The BYOC Tournaments require its participants to purchase a computer seat and bring their own computer, they may not use official Dreamhack PC’s. The first BYOC is composed of 128 players and the top two players will be placed into this Dreamhacks group stages. The prize for the other two BYOC Events is a player seat at Dreamhack Winter 2011 and 6000 SEK.
If you were one of those people who couldn’t get hyped up for the NASL because majority of the “Pool Play” games didn’t mean anything, I have some great news for you. The people of the NASL are busy working on 5 separate brackets for all the people who ranked 11-30; the winners of that will advance to the “Grand Finals” (another bracket). Why ranks 11-30? Because the top 10 players(2 per group) have already earned placement into the grand finals grid.
The IPL Season 2 is underway and this season they have made several improvements to the casters! The only complaint I have is DJWheat is marked as a solocaster and TotalBiscuit is dual casting. It doesn’t make much sense at all since DJWheat primarily cocasts, while TB Solocasts. Nothing against either of them, I love them both but swapping those two just seems logical. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if Day9 steps up last minute to help out DJWheat.
Saturday morning Starcraft returns with the TeamLiquid Open! TeamSpeak has sponsored at least $3400 which allows TeamLiquid to run 12 Open Tournaments for $200 each and one final Invite Tournament with a $1000 Prize Pool! It is important to note that that these are all TeamSpeak Tournaments and not a qualifier for TSL4, which is still unannounced. I will do my best to provide you coverage up to the Semi Finals, from there TheChilledOne (Chill/TLO) will take over on TeamLiquids stream!
